Vibrator Screener

With the Electro-mechanical Ball Tray Deck Screener (EMBS), Cleveland Vibrator Company provides a high-efficiency screening design for recycling applications where precise end particle size is paramount. The EMBS achieves a high degree of practicality from its ball tray deck, the physical area beneath the surface of the wire cloth screen that contains balls in specialized compartments. The linear vibratory design actuates vigorous ball bouncing movements within the ball deck compartments and against the underside of the screen section. As the balls randomly strike the bottom of the screen, they knock out angular pieces that have wedged into screen openings. This action ultimately keeps openings clear for more efficient screening, thereby eliminating potential plug blinding that can occur when material gets caught in screen openings. www.clevelandvibrator.com

Organics Audits

Wastequip has launched its Organics2Go program for the safe and easy collection, storage and transport of organic waste. Key to the program’s success is a waste audit that enables the company to customize a solution to meet any customer’s needs. Each program is designed based on the volume of organic waste typically generated at a site, as well as other customer priorities. Wastequip then recommends a system to help the customer reduce disposal costs, improve safety and meet sustainability objectives. The Organics2Go line includes a range of products for organic waste diversion including containers, carts, cart lifters, biofiltration systems (including BiobiN) and digesters in a variety sizes. www.wastequip.com

CHP Meets Air Quality Rules

Tecogen’s natural gas engine-driven combined heat and power (CHP) systems meet strict California guidelines for participation in the renewed $83 million Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP). The SGIP is a statewide initiative implemented by the California Public Utilities Commission designed to promote power generation by utility customers and help achieve the goal of generating one-third of California’s electricity from renewable sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. To be eligible, systems must meet NOx emissions levels of the strictest region of the state (in this case SCAQMD (Los Angeles)), and be warranted by the manufacturer for 10 years. With proven efficiency, performance and ultra-low emissions, Tecogen’s CHP systems are eligible for up to $500/kW under the SGIP program. www.tecogen.com

Cover Meets Voc Emission Requirements

GORE Cover technology has received an assessment and recognition from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) in California, which has some of the strictest standards in the nation. The SJVAPCD notes that the GORE Cover technology, when properly installed, operated and maintained per company specifications, is capable of meeting and/or exceeding the VOC emission requirements of District Rule 4565 (Biosolids, Animal Manure, and Poultry Litter Operations), District Rule 4566 (Organic Material Composting Operations) and District Best Available Control Technology (BACT) for cocomposting operations. Facilities using the GORE Cover have experienced greater than 90 percent reduction in process odors and VOC emissions when compared to open systems, according to the company. www.gorecover.com

Expansion Into Asia, Name Change

GHD, Inc., a U.S. anaerobic digestion company, announced it will begin exporting its technology to Asia, Europe and South America. To prepare for this international expansion, GHD also announced that the company has changed its name to DVO, Inc. Farmers in South Korea, Serbia, Chile and Canada have contracted with DVO to benefit from the technology chosen by a large number of American farmers who have installed digesters over the past decade. In addition to DVO’s international expansion, the company will soon announce its first municipal customer in the U.S., as well as the first farm-practical nutrient recovery system. Patents are pending on DVO’s new technology, which turns digester by-products into valuable fertilizers using methods that make economic sense for farmers. www.DVOinc.net

Soil And Compost Tester

Woods End Laboratories, manufacturers of Solvita Respiration Systems, announced the launch of Solvita pH Companion Technology as part of its GardenCare System. The addition of the pH parameter serves a growing need for home landscapers and avid gardeners to take control of the health of both their soil and local ground water. The Garden Care Kit’s compost probes measure both carbon dioxide and ammonia by exposing a patented colorimetric gel to a compost sample placed in an incubation jar for four hours. The Soil Life probes measure the rate of CO2 released by the living organisms (respiration) in the soil. The result shows the quality of the organic matter and potentially mineralizable nitrogen in the soil. If needed, specific recommendations are given to ensure peak soil fertility. http://solvita.com
