Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is holding a series of webinars to uncover the potential of anaerobic digestion technologies in modern agriculture. Hosted by Daniel Andersen, associate professor in agriculture and biosystems engineering at Iowa State, the “Emerging Science of Anaerobic Digestion” is designed to inform farmers, technical service providers and project developers about the essentials of digesters, opportunities for their adoption, the promising future of biomass digestion and the challenges with implementation. The first webinar of the 3-month series was on October 8 and covered digester basics. The November 12 webinar, “Why Digesters, Why Now?,” delves into the shifting policies encouraging anaerobic digestion adoption and outlines the financial opportunities accessible. The December 10 webinar, “Why Biomass Digestion May Be the Next Big Thing,” explores feedstocks beyond manure, assessing the significant role biomass plays in enhancing the feasibility of digestion projects. “Participants will gain valuable insights into the latest research aimed at improving the feasibility and efficiency of anaerobic digestion technologies,” says Anderson.
