The Arizona Composting Council (ACC) was founded in April 2024 with a mission to “promote and advance composting practices throughout the state.” The organization is dedicated to educating the public, supporting composting initiatives, and advocating for sustainable waste management policies, notes the website. Plans include offering a range of educational programs, workshops, and resources “designed to empower individuals and communities to effectively manage organic waste. Our goal is to increase awareness and understanding of composting’s positive impact on soil health, waste reduction, and environmental sustainability so Arizonans will have the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future,” notes ACC on its website. Advocacy is focusing on promoting policies and initiatives that support composting and organic waste recycling, aiming to reduce landfill waste and improve soil health. The ACC is working closely with local governments, businesses, and communities to implement effective composting programs and raise awareness about the benefits of composting. The founding board of the Council includes Dr. Joe Roselle, Urban Farming; Oscar Rodriguez, Denali; Lauren Click, Let’s Go Compost; and Shota Austin, Tank’s Green Stuff.
